Many people who care for loved ones with disabilities often find it hard to identify opportunities for holidays and breaks away.

For the last two years, Holiday 4 Disabled has been helping people with disabilities to discover the freedom of a holiday away from parents and guardians, but supported by a team of carers. The holiday has been the start of many new friendships, creating a network of like minded people all sharing the same goal of promoting independence with a safety net.

The week we spend away is fully catered and all special diets are catered for including soft, puree, gluten free and low calorie. Transport to and from the venue is provided along with transport to and from all activities. Holidaymakers are looked after on a shared room basis with both carers and Holidaymakers in the same single sex rooms.

The volunteer team has been trained and fully checked through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The team consists of lay carers, supported by a core team of health care professionals, including nurses, doctors, and care assistants.

We currently look after people with a wide range of disabilities which include Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Autism, learning disabilities and visually impaired. Our current holidaymakers are both able bodied and wheelchair users.

We want our holiday to be as accessible as possible, as such we are open to all requests to attend the holiday. All requests are dealt with by our medical team, who provide a review. This review is usually completed by application form and a face to face interview with potential holidaymaker and parents/guardians.
